..and more sippy cups!
Rating:3 out of 5 stars - A bit complicated
Ok so sippy cups are not rocket science, but this cup has a few too many parts to put together. It's a lot to separate, clean and keep from getting lost in the cabinet. It also leaks a bit more than the others. It's not a horrible leaker, but a bit more other brands I've tried.

Rating:1 out of 5 stars - leaks & that annoying "vent"
We've been using the Born Free bottles for the past few months and they've worked our really well - except, as I'd read in another review elsewhere, I don't know if I see a point to that vent insert. It's pretty annoying. I tried simply not using the vent, but then the bottles seemed to leak.

SO, because I've used Born Free for some time now, I thought I'd give the born free sippy cup trainer a try. And because I'd read the reviews about leakage, I decided to also buy the Think Baby Sippy Cup Trainer, as well, to compare the two.

I used Think Baby first and LOVED it. No leaks at all. AND no annoying vent insert to deal with, either. Then I tried the Born Free trainer after, and it leaked IMMEDIATELY. I double checked to make sure everything was screwed on tightly, tried again, and the thing still leaks.

I was going to give this bottle 2 stars, to be nice & because I've used the bottles for so long, but... ARGH! That stupid vent insert.

Seeing as these cups aren't exactly cheap, I'm going to return this one and get a few more of the Think Baby cups.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars - Our Holy Grail of Sippy Cups!
I've been participating in the Great Sippy Cup Hunt of 2010 for my 10 month old daughter. Although she grasps the concept of drinking from a cup, she would never actually drink much from them. We have tried Playtex, Nuby, Munchkin and Avent among other brands. Finally someone passed along a Born Free Trainer Cup, and we've finally found what we were looking for. As soon as I handed her this one, she was able to drink from it easily and starting draining everything we put in it.

-We have the soft spout 6m+ training cup, and it does not leak at all. My daughter has vigorously put that to the test by batting it around her highchair tray, flipping it upside down in her lap, and flinging it onto the floor. We've never had any issue with any leaks.
-The handles make it very simple for her to pick up, hold, and tip the cup to be able to drink from it alone.
-I like the measuring marks on the side to know how much liquid is in it, and easily determine how much she drank.
-The cap fits on the top very well for transport.
-Although it does have a number of pieces (cup, vent, handles, spout), I actually find it easier to put together than some of the other brands. I like that the spout is one whole piece, for me that's simpler than a brand like the Nuby where the spout had to be fit into the collar to be screwed on.

Cons
-It is more expensive than the other brands I tried. Average cost for the other cups was around $6-7, while this one is $10-11. I shouldn't be surprised my daughter has expensive taste. :-) However, they do sell just replacement spouts which are cheaper, so that can save the expense of having to replace the whole cup when the spouts are worn.
-Additional pieces: although I do think the whole cup goes together quite easily, it's more to wash and keep track of. Having used Dr. Browns bottles for 10 months now, I'm getting used to that!

This is the one sippy cup that my daughter has been willing to drink from, so that makes it worthwhile for me unless there were major cons. Overall though, there is a lot to like about this cup. It seems to provide a pretty easy transition from bottle to cup. I am definitely going to be picking up more of them for my daughter.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars - she likes it!
my one year old girl loves it. It doesn't leak but if you tip it over it will drop out from the opening in the spout.

My girl loves this thing and she doesn't feel like she is being drowned like with bottles. I'm looking forward to the day that she can drink on her own with it without spilling a drop.

Right now I have to tip it for her.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars - Doesn't leak IF...
Turns out that I hadn't been using the part that goes directly on top of bottle, under the spouts. It will leak if you don't use this. I changed my review from 3 to 5 stars.

This is a great bottle that doesn't leak if you use properly. My son really does love them and it was the only sippy that he would transition to, perhaps b/c the spout is so soft.

The Born Free website suggests changing the spout every 4-6 weeks.
